Here's a thing about the time difference, I wake up to all my emails and tweets from the UK. By the time I wake up, most Brits have had a full working day so emails from home start coming in around 2am my time. It didn't take long before I learned that the phone has to be on silent before bed or it'll end up in the neighbours' pool (my neighbour doesn't have a pool but you get the point).
There are some things that are tricky about an eight hour gap. Heaven forbid you have to speak to anyone back home first thing in their morning. A mate of mine had to do a few business calls home and he had to stay up half the night to catch them.
I feel like I'm living both time zones. Even on non-Skype days, I'm still very aware of what time it is at home, it's probably my way of staying connected. Like when I want to connect to what the weather's like, I stick my head in the freezer.
