Last Sunday was Superbowl Sunday! Now I don't know about anywhere else, but what everyone was talking about was the amazing game, right?! I'm kidding of course. Everyone was talking about the Beyonce's stella performance (which involved so much electricity some say she caused the power outage. At least she can safely say, 'I shut it DOWN - literally').
When watching the game away from the two competing cities, San Fran and Baltimore, you just picks a team for the day and makes encouraging noises when they do well and sad noises when they don't. I picked the 49ers but only because they were the underdogs, though I have to confess I did switch to the Ravens a few times because I liked their outfits.
The atmosphere was more jovial and fun than electric in the bar that I went to - The Den on Sunset Boulevard. It didn't feel like the stakes were particularly high for anyone. It was an excuse to catch up with old friends, hang out in a nice bar and enjoy the weather. That was until Beyonce came on stage. The air in The Den fizzed as soon as she was on the TV screens (yes all 8 of them). From the girl in the corner dancing along to Beyonce's choreography to the fat dude in corner hoping for a nipple flash, all eyes were on Sasha Fierce. People were whooping and hollering as though they were there!
When the half time show ended, the excitement ebbed away to that pleasant afterglow of chatter and reminiscence you have after you've seen something collectively which is awesome.
Game shmame. This night belonged to the Queen Bee.
